GARY STOCHL KUVASI HÄMMÄSTYTTÄVÄT 40 VUOTTA Chicagon kaduilla ja teki kymmeniä tuhansia vedoksia kuvistaan näyttämättä niitä kenellekään ennenkuin piti näyttelyn vuonna 2003. Kuvat nähnyt yliopiston valokuvauksen opettaja ymmärsi Garyn työn laadun. Niinpä Gary Stochl´in kuvista pian julkaistiin kirja, On City Streets: Chicago 1964-2004. Katseltuani sen välittömästi ihastuin Garyn kuvien henkilöiden asentojen rytmiikkaan sekä katutilojen valojen ja varjojen maailmaan.
Gary Stochl kuvasi samalla Leica M3 kameralla vuodesta 1968 lähtien. Tinkimätöntä pitkäjänteisyyttä sekin.
GARY STOCHL WALKED AND PHOTOGRAPHED 40 YEARS on streets of Chicago with astonishing way. Gary made tens of thousands of prints from his photos without showing them to anyone before he had exhibition in 2003. College photography teacher saw Gary´s photos and understood quality of his work. Soon there was book published by Gary Stochl: On City Streets: Chicago 1964-2004. When I saw the book, I was immediately excited about rhytmic positioning of persons in Gary Stochl´s photos. I also enjoyed how he dealed with lights and shadows of cityscape.
Gary Stochl worked with the same Leica M3 camera since 1968, also a very spartan and durable choice.
